Everything you need to know to be ready for game day.
Before Game Day
Review the game date, opponent, and puck-drop time.
Review any special instructions from the Head OIO or supervisor.
Arrival & Check-In
🕐 OIO Arrival Time
All Off-Ice Officials are expected to report two hours before puck drop unless otherwise instructed by the Head OIO or team staff.
Please plan your arrival accordingly and allow enough time to enter the arena, reach the Press Box, and be ready to begin your pre-game responsibilities.
🚪 Arena Entrance
Beginning with the 2026–27 season, all Off-Ice Officials should enter Akins Ford Arena through Gate 2 located behind the Foundry Pavilion.
📍 Press Box — OIO Home Base
Once inside the arena, all OIOs should report to the Press Box on the 200 Level.
The Press Box is located between the Men's Restroom and Suite 209.
The Press Box is the official home base for all Athens Rock Lobsters Off-Ice Officials.
Upon arrival, check in with the Head OIO on staff before beginning your game-day responsibilities.
📱 Late Arrival or Unexpected Absence
If you are running late or are unexpectedly unable to work your assigned game, contact the Head OIO by text as soon as possible.
Do not wait until the scheduled report time to communicate a delay or absence.
👕 Required OIO Identification & Apparel
During your entire OIO shift, you are required to wear:
- SPHL-issued OIO shirt or jacket
- Staff lanyard and badge
These items should be worn at all times while you are working in the arena.

Game Intermissions
Intermission Breaks
Off-Ice Officials may leave their assigned stations during intermissions for food, drinks, restroom breaks, or other personal needs.
OIOs are responsible for returning to their assigned station and being ready to resume duties no later than five minutes before the start of the next period.
Please plan your break accordingly so that all OIO positions are staffed and ready when play resumes.
